One of the main reasons for selling your house privately has to be the amount of money you will save. For example, with the average house for sale in the UK now priced at £239,000, the standard 1.5 per cent cut an agent would take is £4,212 (including VAT) I have calculated the above figure using an agent’s commission of 1.5%, however they can often be higher than this. For instance, in some parts of Europe they have been known to charge has much as 10%!
